What do our Clients say about us?

Climb High Client Turker Sengul M.D. from Turkey sent us this great photo of him on Island Peak
Turker is a great friend of Climb High and wrote a nice email for us as a reference recently:

“My first communication with Climb High started in mid-summer 2012. Since there was not many tours from Turkey to Nepal at that time, I decided that I would arrange it myself through the web. Until then I had no clue where to start with and how to proceed. My guidebook for Nepal was recommending a few companies including Climb High Himalaya. After web correspondences with many companies I was impressed with one company particular… Climb High Himalaya.

What really appealed me was their helpfulness, honesty and promptness. From the time I had landed in Kathmandu and I was welcomed by Climb High- in particular Sange Sherpa and Amber Thapa, to the time I left for home after Annapurna Circuit I totally felt as if I was in a company of friends, whom I can trust and enjoy. I had a wonderful experience in the Annapurna Circuit. Sange Sherpa was my guide and Arzun Serpa my porter.

I enjoyed it so much and felt like so safe with them that I came back in 2013. Now for EBC trek and even more… After careful planning and consultation with Amber I decided that I complete the EBC trek after going to Gokyo , climbing Gokyo-Ri and passing over Cho-La Pass, up to EBC , down to Dingboche and climbing a “sixthounsender ” first time, the Island Peak, 6189m.

I was not sure if I could complete all the “five” objectives in 17 days because of my time constraints. When we first setup with Sange Sherpa from Kathmandu- thanks to Amber that he could arrange my friend from last year again- I was not sure which of the five objectives I could accomplish…

Thanks to my guide Sange, my porter Gurmi Sherpa I managed to climb Gokyo-Ri, passed over Cho-La under snowy and foogy weather, climbed Kalapatthar, trekked to EBC and back and reached the summit of Island Peak on a perfect day… And did not experience any problem at all, including altitude sickness( no meds taken) because of careful planning, flexibility when needed and professionalism…

I had countless memories with my FRIENDS (Sange,Gurmi,Arzun and Amber) that I will praise and share. The last day of the trek I thought would be easy when descending with my friend Amber. I was wrong… We had unrelenting late monsoon rain from Namche down to Lukla, soaked, thinking that I was swimming in my hi-tech gore-tex boots. We couldn’t even sit down for lunch -because we were soaked and were fine standing- had it standing instead, shared some chocolates to warm-up. Memories to last a lifetime… Many more…

I am in my hometown now, surrounded with the usual luxuries of urban life… I really cant wait to rejoin in the earliest possible time with my FRIENDS in Nepal again, the Climb High…

Dannebad Amber, Dannebad Sange, Dannebad Arzun, Gürmi and all the other Sherpas…

‘Our special thanks to you all and your team for the wonderful service the company provided during the Expedition. The members were delighted in every way and appreciated the extra hospitality. The extra time and effort you put in were certainly worthwhile.

In November my wife Kara and I took our second trekking trip with Climb High Himalaya. The trip was 25 days trekking and climbing Lobuche East, Pokhalde, and Island Peak with some extra days to see Gokyo Lakes, Everest Base Camp, etc. It was another great adventure in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Sangey, our guide, was excellent. He is an extremely strong and knowledgeable mountaineer who always ensured our safety from climbing on steep snow to crossing a tricky stream or even avoiding a minor hazard when trekking on an otherwise easy trail. At times, he literally ran back and forth between Kara and me to make sure we were safely connected to our fixed line when passing knots. Sangey was also a great ambassador for Nepal who obviously enjoyed sharing his wisdom on climbing (often with less experienced guides from other companies), taking us to beautiful places, showing us wildlife, helping us understand the culture, etc.

Sangey and his team went well out of their way to make sure we successfully reached our goals. Sangey pre-climbed most of Lobuche and all of Pokhalde the day before Kara and I attempted them to make sure he understood the current conditions and picked the best route. We had high camps on Lobuche East and Island Peak, a huge benefit that many other groups did not enjoy. On Island, high camp was very difficult for the porters as there was no water available and extra trips to bring up water were required. We were one of two teams on Island that had high camps on our summit day. Many people turned back before reaching the summits of Lobuche East and particularly Island Peak when we were climbing. A large part of our success has to be attributed to Sangey's careful planning, good route finding, his attention to how Kara and I were doing, and the use of high camps even when such camps were difficult.

Here's another example of just how nice the team was and how lucky we were to have them. When Sangey, Kara, and I left the snow on both Lobuche East and Island Peak, several people from our group, including Pasang the cook, met us to offer hot tea and cookies and to carry our bags the last mile or two into camp. It was unexpected but a really nice and welcome gesture given how tired we were.

Things went so well for us that we had several buffer days scheduled (for flight delays and lost luggage, bad weather, sickness, etc) that we didn't use. As we were heading to India next and had cut that portion of the trip short, we wanted to try to rearrange our somewhat complicated travel plans both getting to India sooner and changing our schedule once there. Satyawan, at the Climb High office, rearranged most of our plans as we were trekking back to Lukla and once in Kathmandu even waited in line with us at the Jet Airways office to help us change plane tickets.
Between Satyawan and Amber, also at the office, planning our trip and then executing on those plans, even given the changes, couldn't have been easier.

I would recommend Climb High Himalaya to anyone without reservations. They went well beyond our expectations to make sure we had the best possible experience. Thank you Climb High for another awesome trip!

  • Namaste! First of all, let me thank you/Climb High for an incredible experience!

The Manaslu/Tsum trek and Larkya Peak climb were amazing and everything went according to plan. Sange, Dawa and others did an outstanding job - well done to all!

  • The Himalayas: Traveller's Guide

No longer the domain only of serious climbers, the world's mightiest mountain range also offers gentle walks, luxury lodges, white-water adventure and wildlife.

  • I just wanted to let you know that I had a safe trip to Kathmandu and back to Austria.
Everything worked out perfect. Thanks a lot to all you guys! It was an amazing experience. I’ll send some pictures once sorted out, but now friends and family want to hear more about the trip :)
All the best and greetings to Nepal!

  • I enjoy the trip the more the longer I am back home. But honestly: it was a well organized trip and I can really recommend Climb high!

  • II went to Nepal for the Everest base camp trekking alone in the winter time. Climb high organised a smooth and enjoyable trip for me which consider a lot about the adaptation of the high attitude for the people who live in sea-level, like Hong Kong. Amber is very helpful throughout the whole process of planning and during the trip. Other staffs, like Dawa, climbing guide Arjun and porter Nabin, also provide very high quality personal service and support during the trek and the extended stay in Nepal after the tour until I departed to home.

  • Thank you once again for your hospitality, taking care of our group and everything you have done. It was perfect! The flight was all right and everyone is back home – tired but happy!
I wish you all the best.

  • Much gratitude, appreciation and rave reviews for Rajen Thapa and his entire Climb High team. As a novice climber heading to Nepal on her own to join other strangers for a first climb up a 6000 mt. peak (Lobuche East), I really had no idea what to expect. Although I had booked the trip through an American company (Summitclimb), Climb High operated the trip in Nepal. Our trip wasn’t without some unavoidable logistical challenges; from many delays in the arrival of various members to Kathmandu, four days of delay for our flight to Lukla and some health challenges for some members, we really tested the limits of “going with the flow”. These things happen – especially in Nepal, but Raj and his team handled it all like true professionals and it’s during these challenges that you find out just how good a company is and I really appreciated the benefit of having such a diligent team that knows the locals and how to deal with local challenges.

As for the climbing, we couldn’t have been in better hands. They made the training fun and made sure we were all comfortable and confident before heading up the mountain. Raj was right behind me every step of the way and I owe my summit success to his one-on-one guidance and support. And let’s not forget the Climb High cooks and porters – these are hardworking and impressive people who love to share a smile, a laugh or a song, all while making sure you are comfortable and happy. Altogether they are a great team and I would highly recommend them to anyone, novice or expert, looking to organize or participate in a climb or trek in Nepal.

  • My sister and I have hired Raj to lead us up Mera Peak in 2007. We didn’t know him then and so it was with some apprehension that we arrived in Kathmandu. Right from the meeting at the airport to the slopes of Mera Peak, we were well taken care of. We couldn’t be more satisfied with Raj and his staff. So when we decided to trek up Mt. Everest in Tibet in September 2010, there was no doubt about, who should arrange the trip for us. Raj has reliable connection in Lhasa and here again, we were well taken care of. Many companies provide good service, but it is when things beyond anybody’s control go wrong that an excellent service is invaluable.

When the rock slides made the road from Kodari to Kathmandu impassible ten miles out of Kodari and Raj’s Kathmandu guide couldn’t reach us at the Chinese border, Raj’s office arranged for a local agent to meet us at the border and drive us as far as he could to the first rock slide, where porters carried our baggage to the next open section and repeated the process two more times using a van and a truck, until we reached the open road. Raj’s guide was the first one we saw as we got off that jam-packed truck with other travelers. Our waiting car from Kathmandu was the first one to leave the chaotic scene. If our future plans lead us to Nepal, the decision whom to use as a guide will be very easy.

  • Climb High Himalaya provide an excellent end-to-end service including transfers, accommodation and trekking arrangements. Amber is the owner and ensured that our holiday went smoothly and to plan. Our guide, Sange, took great care of us and saw to it that each day on trek was memorable and enjoyable. Sange was responsible for our accommodation each and made sure that it was ready for us at the end of each day by sending the porters ahead with all our luggage. All aspects of our trip were fantastic and I would highly recommend Climb High to anyone contemplating trekking in the Himalaya. I really appreciated the small touched including arranging the repair of my broken boots and enjoying a simple Sherpa specialty of potato pancakes in a small restaurant tucked away in a side alley and used mainly by locals.

  • Here is the picture on Annapurna Base Camp!

Thank you very much for everything, we really enjoyed it!
    Regards,

  • I had never been on a trek before so I did not know anything about preparing or planning for a 22 day trek to Gokyo, EBC and Island Peak.

There are a lot of trekking companies in Nepal so finding the right one can be overwhelming. I met with several companies and Climb High Himalaya was the only company that understood what I was looking for. The team at Climb High was both professional and incredibly kind.

On my trek, my guide Chwangba was incredible. I always felt safe and knew no matter what issue would come up, Chwangba and Climb High Himalaya would take care of it. Thanks to Climb High Himalaya, I had the trek of a lifetime, reaching the top of Island Peak and seeing the beautiful

Everest region. I plan on doing more treks and climbs in Nepal, and Climb High Himalaya will be my company of choice. I fully recommend Climb High Himalaya to anyone looking to explore the majestic Himalayas.

  • The trip was great. Sange was a fantastic guide and I couldn’t have climbed Island Peak without him!
The whole trip went perfectly and thank you so much Climb High!

  • My friend and I used Climb High Himalaya to organize an attempt on Island Peak during October 2014. Before arriving in Kathmandu, neither of us had heard about the various ‘Trekking Peaks’ found throughout Nepal. After reading a snippet in a Lonely Planet guide, we were convinced that we had to give it a shot and set out to meet with each of the five or so climbing outfits recommended in the guidebook. Since neither my friend nor I had any previous climbing experience, it was very important to us that we did our homework and found the most reputable agency. After meeting with each of the groups to discuss cost, timing, logistics, etc., Climb High was the clear choice. The price for a three day climb of Island Peak was comparable to the other groups we spoke with, but the level of service and professionalism was far superior.

We dealt primarily with the owner, Amber, who was a pleasure to work with and who consistently exceeded our expectations. Since Climb High’s offices are located right at the heart of Thamel, we found ourselves meeting with Amber quite frequently in the days leading up to our departure, asking not only about the climb, but really any question we had about Nepal generally. He was a fantastic resource and a genuinely caring person. We ended up going to dinner more than once — not just as clients but as friends!
If you are considering a trek or a climb in Nepal, you simply can’t go wrong choosing Climb High. It is a first-rate outfit run by sincere and knowledgeable guides who will go out of their way to look after you.
Everyone back home wants to hear about the trekking / Island Peak and I’m happy to share the story! It truly was an unforgettable experience and I’m thankful to Climb High. It was great getting to know Climb High — it’s a great group.

  • I can’t speak highly enough of Climb High Himalaya. We happened to be out on the Mera Peak trip when the earthquake struck. Despite being a difficult time for everyone in Nepal, our trip was so well organised..

we managed to achieve what we had aimed to do, and on top of that managed to travel around, and from, the country with ease, where others were not so lucky.

In Kathmandu nothing was ever too much trouble for Amber who always managed to solve any problems we had with a calm, friendly, professionalism. On the mountain, the quiet but cheery Sangay was a patient and obviously skilled guide, who made some good calls that saved us getting into unnecessary trouble. The rest of the team all made us feel welcome and fed us up nicely!

I came away from Nepal with a genuine affection for the Nepalese people, and a lot of that is due to being fortunate enough to meet the Climb High team. I hope to be back soon and, if I was heading into the mountains again, there would be no reason to choose any other company.

  • A big thank you to Amber, Dawa and Chirring. I had the trip of a lifetime. They run a great outfit and I really enjoyed my time in Nepal. I am delighted to have summitted the 3 peaks and I hope to visit again someday and look to go a bit higher.

Again,a big thank you to Amber for helping make it such a successful and rewarding experience.

  • David and I waited almost a week before embarking on our second attempt at climbing Lunag Ri. My left shoulder was working well again and I felt strong. David and I talked about climbing a less asthetic line, but one that could perhaps provide a solution to the summit objective.

We headed out from Base Camp on October 30th and made our way up to our ABC on the Lunag Glacier at 17,800 ft. Our plan was to rest for 24 hours and then begin our climb at 9 pm and work up the left ramp to the skyline. Our mood was optimistic and we were feeling well rested.

At 7 pm on Halloween we brewed up a strong double shot of Via coffee and packed our climbing packs. The wind was blowing strong aloft and we watched plumes of snow being whisked airborne as the sun set. It was going to be a cold night so we donned our synthetic puff pants over our climbing pants as a precaution against the cold…
