Gosaikunda Trek

5/5

Langtang Gosaikunda trek combines the remote and spectacular valley of Langtang, with the high mountain lakes at Gosainkund. Visit the beautiful Langtang National park and then trek to the end of the valley to view the wonderful mountain views. Following the Trisuli River north out of Kathmandu, we travel through Trisuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Syabrubensi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. We then swing east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as we travel up along a gorge-like, lower section of the valley. We pass through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang.

Introduction

A little further up the valley is Kyangin Gompa, where we stop overnight and sample the local yak cheese. We pass through Nubamatang, nestled in a hidden valley, on our way up to view the glaciers, which mark the gateway into Tibet. Backtracking, we travel through Syabru and Sing Gompa to a high plateau, where the sacred lake Gosainkund is located. Crossing the Llaurebena Pass (4610m), we continue south, leaving the Langtang region behind us as we travel through the Helambu valley to Gul Bhanjyang.

Private trek or group option

We can organise this trek on a private basis for groups of friends, families, clubs, charities or any other group. Depending on your previous trekking experience, you may want a Climb High leader or have no ‘leader’ but sill use the help of one of our guides and/or porters. Costs for this option are available on demand but are often not a huge amount greater than joining one of our ‘fixed departures’. Please contact us with your referred dates and itinerary and we’ll give you a quote.

Details will be sent to you once you have decided to proceed with your booking.

Equipment

Trekkers need to provide their own personal clothing and equipment. It is recommended that you use tried and tested kit on the trip rather than relying on brand new kit you’re not sure of.

A complete kit list is to be found on this website.

Porter Protection

Climb High is a local Nepali company and as such we treat our own people with the respect and good conditions you would expect. Many team members are from our own families and you can be assured that the treatment they receive is second to none. All insurances and porter conditions are met, and more.

Why use Climb High?

Our acclimatization schedule and trip organization is designed to give everyone in the team the best chance of reaching base camp in great condition and feeling healthy.
This trek is accommodated in lodges with traditional Nepali hospitality.
Treks are led by highly experienced leaders plus Sherpas and porters.
Porter’s welfare is paramount to us – we are a local company and want to ensure that we take care of our own staff.
We are a premium Nepali trekking operator, with impeccable local contacts – any changes in plan can be dealt with far more effectively using our experience and network of local contacts.
We have our own modern offices in central Kathmandu in Mandala Street – Thamel’s premium street

IMPORTANT NOTE: Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, please take the itinerary as a statement of intent rather than an absolute. Travel in Nepal can be dangerous, delayed and highly changeable. Weather conditions, availability of porters and the health of team members can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.
