In the morning, we leave for Khare (5045m). The trekking route leads us along the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier then to Dig Kharka. The trail then takes a sloping turn through moraines to the tip of the Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers. Trail then becomes steeper as we make our way towards Khare. The village is a great spot to get an amazing view of the northern face of Mera Peak. You can loiter around the village exploring the corners for the best views. We halt for the night at Khare.
This day is kept aside for acclimatization. The elevation has been increasing since you landed at Lukla, and it gets higher till we reach Mera Peak. We also conduct basic training on climbing, and our experts will see that you are well versed in it. You will be instructed on how to use certain equipment during your ascent. Also, the best methods to climb using a rope. We rest at night, with an exciting adventure up for grabs the next day.
Today, we make our way to Mera Peak High Camp (5780m). We first make our way through a boulder-strewn steep route to reach Mera Base Camp. From here, we take the rocky path up crevasses through Mera La pass till we reach Mera Peak High Camp. As we set up tents around the camp, we can enjoy a panoramic view all around us. The views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Chamlang and Baruntse is just excellent from up here. We spend the night at our tents at the High Camp.
Since it is a long walk further from the Base Camp to High Camp, we start early in the morning. As we ascend the weather might be very cold before dawn and we continue our trek up glaciers and quaint ridges. The climb will be a slow one. The sight of the first sun rays hitting the peaks is an awesome sight. The trail becomes steeper as we make our ascend and gradually the summit (6461m) comes into view. The trail requires ropes to climb over at some points. After all this, we walk uphill till we reach the summit. Once at the summit, you can take in the spectacular views of the mountain peaks around. For instance, Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Nuptse, Chamlang and Baruntse are all visible. We will stay there for a while as you click photos or relax at such a great height. Then we make our way back to High Camp and rest for some time. Before returning back to Khare to rest for the night.
After breakfast, we retrace our steps back to Kothe. Where you can have the rest of the day for yourself. You can enjoy the view and experiment with your taste buds over the Nepalese cuisines. We halt for the night at the village of Kothe.
We start for Thuli Kharka (4300m) after breakfast. The trail takes us uphill and downhill for several miles as we get across Inkhu Khola. We continue on the trail passing Chortens along the way, till we reach a steep downhill slope. Then we climb up the steep slope leading to the village of Thuli Kharka. We rest in the village.
