Trip Overview:

Mt. Kailash is considered as the most visited sacred destination in Tibet. There has been a flow of Hindus as well as Buddhist to this holy place every year. Mt. Kailash is not permitted for climbing but one can do 52km circumambulation around the mountain. This is a journey by a chartered helicopter. Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Simikot. At Simikot, make a charter helicopter flight to Hilsa, the place closest to China border and drive to the Lake Mansarovar across the widely spread open spaces of the Tibetan Plateau. Then proceed for the most fascinating trip to Mt. Kailash and make a circumambulation around Mount Kailash. Along the tour to Mt. Kailash, visitors can bath in the sacred Mansarovar Lake, having periphery 88km, depth 90m and total area 320 km 2 . The itinerary is planned accordingly so that the visitors reach Mansarovar Lake on the full moon day. Asthapavat and Tirthapuri can be visited if pre- arranged. The total journey is 10days / 9 nights and the maximum elevation is 5636m.

Outline Itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu 1,350m.
Kathmandu city sightseeing. Visit Pashupati Nath temple and the temple of Vishnu, Jal Narayan. Fly to Nepalgunj 450m (45 min)
Fly to Simikot 3,700m A heli flight to Hilsa (45 min) Cross the border. Drive to Purang 3,770m (15 km, 45 min)
Purang, acclimatization day
Drive to Mansarovar Lake 4,582m (110 km, 2.5 hrs)
Drive to Darchen 4,670m (55 km, 1 hr), drive to Sershong 4,860m. First day of Kailash parikrama upto Derapuk 4,900m (13 km, 5 hrs)
Second day of Kailash parikrama upto Zhuthulpuk 4,760m (18 km, 9/10 hrs)
End of Kailash parikrama (10 km, 2/3 hrs), drive to Purang (135km, 5 hrs) or Hilsa
Fly to Nepalgunj and to Kathmandu
Transfer to the airport for departure.
