All visitors except the Indian nationals must have valid visa to enter into Nepal. Visa can be obtained at the Nepalese embassies or consulates abroad.
However it can also be obtained on arrival at the Tribhuwan International airport, Kathmandu. Payments are only made through cash and credit cards are not accepted.
Children under 10 years will not be charged any visa fee.
NEPAL VISA ON ARRIVAL / requirements
A valid visa and one passport size photo with a light background. Download the visa form before you start, fill it up and submit at the visa desk at the airport in Kathmandu. It saves a lot of time, rather than queuing up on arrival and filling the form then.
You can also fill the online visa form. You will get the authorization number after filling up the online form and is valid for 15 days only. Please make a printout and note the authorisation number before submitting the online form.

- Visa extension fee upto 15 days or less is US $ 30 or equivalent convertible currency and visa extension fee thereafter is US$ 2 per day.
- Tourist visa can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January – December).
- Transit Visa
Transit visa for one day can be obtained from immigration offices at the airport upon the declaration of the departure flight ticket by paying US $ 5 or equivalent convertible currency.
- If one is flying into Nepal via India, and has two transits in India, please note that an Indian transit visa is required.
- Nepal government gives visa on arrival to all nationalities expect the following – Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia and Ethiopia from African continent as well as Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan from the Asian continent.
