Ama Dablam is one of the beautiful peaks tucked in Himalayan range of eastern Nepal. The peak is the major attraction for climbing in Nepal now a day and the peaks have a height approximately 6,812 meters from the sea level. Ama Dablam was popularly known as” Matterhorn of the Himalaya” and one of the gorgeous mountain in the world. This mountain is not impressive because of its height but the aesthetics which it holds and the mountain were dotted in the Khumbu region of Nepal.
For the climb of Ama Dablam usual ascension is done from the southwestern direction which is also the same route followed by the climber who ascends to the summit of the Ama Dablam for the first time in 1961.
The meaning of Ama Dablam is the ‘mother necklace’ that long ridges on both sides look like the arm of the mother and “Dablam “is the hanging glaciers indicates the necklace worn by the Sherpa women containing pictures of the gods.
The expedition starts from Kathmandu, a capital city of Nepal and you are transferred to the hotel and overnight stay at Kathmandu. Next day exploring the tourist destination of Kathmandu including Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Durbar square Kathmandu and preparation for trekking. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Kathmandu to Lukla(2,850m)
Next day, a short flight to the Village of Lukla lies at an elevation of about 2,850m. Now, the Ama Dablam trek blends with Sherpa culture officially begin.
Lukla to Phakding(2,652M)
The trekking journey starts from Lukla to Phakding where the trekking trail is downhill and suitable for the beginner. You will cross the Dudh Kosi River and after 3 to 4 hours of trekking then you reached the Phakding village. The Phakding village is a small beautiful village surrounded by pristine nature and the Dudh Kosi River flowing on its premises gives the charm to the village. One night stay at Phakding lodge with anesthetic hospitality.
Phakding lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley and is a small alluring village in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The village is a northern part from the Lukla with an elevation of about 2,610m and it is one of the world heritage site declared by the UNESCO in 1979.
Phakding to Namche bazaar (3,445m)
Early morning after breakfast, we will head towards Namche Bazar along the Dudh Kosi River and walking steep valley but not so much that the last one. Then the trekking trail suddenly leads to the uphill to the Namche Bazaar witnessing the mind-blowing views of Nature and undulating valleys.
Tucked at an elevation of about 11,300 feet from the sea level, the lovely village of Sherpa’s and it is one f the largest Sherpa Village in Nepal. The last junction to buy gear for trekking and it has the ATM facility as well. The surrounding of the village offers the alluring view of the Himalayan range.
Namche Bazaar to Deboche(4,410m)
Then every next day, we continue our trekking towards a small town Deboche. The way leads to the up and downhill crossing the Dudh River. The trekking trail offers the overlooking the magnificent view of Mountain peaks like Mt.Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Nuptse. After 2 hours of hiking, we reached one of the famous monasteries of Tengboche monastery and take a look at the monastery and surrounding places. Deboche trail is downhill and after 20 minutes of walking we reached the town and stay overnight at the town with warming hospitality.
Deboche to Pheriche(4, 300 m)
Crossing the Pangboche village we hike towards the Pheriche village where the trail is a little bit rough and then we reached the Pheriche village and get to the lodge in Pheriche. Exploring the village and the place is dotted with the hospital where we got examined by the doctor that we are ready to ascend further or not.
Pheriche, the beautiful village settled in the Khumbu region in eastern Nepal. The people of Pheriche primarily depends upon farming, keeping yaks and during summer season people got employed because during summer trekkers and climber visit the place for acclimatization and village got many lodges. Pheriche also has hospital and operates under Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) which have headquartered in Kathmandu.
Pangboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,570m)
Finally, on this day we trek to Ama Dablam base camp and first, we trek back to Pangboche crossing Dudh Kosi River and hiking to the Ama Dablam Base camp. As you climbing up you can see the glance of Ama Dablam and reach after trudging uphill and we stay that night at base camp for acclimatization for the further climb to the summit of the Ama Dablam. And we prepare for the further climbing to Ama Dablam Base camp 2.
The hike is modest at the Ama Dalam base camp 1 but the real challenge will starts from the base camp 2 as it becomes more technical in the narrow edges of the ridges made up of Granite. Climbing challenges will increase more in camp 2 to 3 and sometimes there is a risk of glacier fall. After crossing the entire huddle you will be the summit of Ama Dalam.
Trek back to the previous route including Tengboche, Namche Bazaar and finally reached Lukla and stay overnight at Lukla hotel.
Lukla to Kathmandu
Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and after reaching Kathmandu we were transferred you to the Kathmandu hotel. Evening you can go shopping in Kathmandu city and you can buy things, handicrafts etc and city serves delicious ‘Thakali cuisine’ and “momo” is the popular snack in Nepal.
Another morning you will get farewell and fly back to your respective destination.
